A firstfruits offering is simply giving the first and best portion of what God provides, before you use the rest. In the New Covenant, “firstfruits” ultimately points to Jesus, His resurrection is called the firstfruits, meaning He rose first and guarantees the coming harvest of resurrection life for all who belong to Him (1 Corinthians 15:20–23). We as Believers are also described as “a firstfruits” of God’s new creation (James 1:18).

So when we give a “first fruits” offering we are honoring God with priority and trust, and we are partnering to meet real needs. The New Covenant encourages intentional, consistent giving (1 Corinthians 16:2) from generous, willing hearts (2 Corinthians 9:7).

Applied to giving, “First Fruits” inspires prioritizing God with the “first” of resources, not as law but cheerful generosity: “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Cor. 9:7). This echoes honoring God first (Prov. 3:9-10), sanctifying the rest and trusting Divine provision.
