God is calling His church to manifest greater manifestations of His power. The following scripture has been quickened to my heart often in the last few months. It is important for believers to be awakened to the call for the “great works of Christ (see John 14:12).
Acts 1:8 NASB
But you will receive power (dunamis) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.
The word “power” in that verse comes from the Greek word, DYNAMIS (pronounced doo-nam-is/dunamis).
According to Strong’s Concordance, it refers to “inherent power, power residing in a thing by virtue of its nature, or which a person or thing exerts and puts forth.”
Dunamis refers to five different aspects of power:
1. Power to perform miracles
1 Corinthians 4:20
“For the kingdom of God does not consist in words but in power.”
Matthew 10:7-8
“As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.”
2. Power that produces moral uprightness and excellence of soul
2 Peter 1:3
“Seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.”
3. Power and resources arising from numbers
Deuteronomy 32:30 NASB
“How could one chase a thousand, And two put ten thousand to flight…”
Matthew 18:19
“Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.”
4. Power consisting in or resting upon armies, forces, and hosts
Psalm 24:8-10
Who is the King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, The LORD mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, you gates, And lift them up, you ancient doors,
That the King of glory may come in!
Who is this King of glory? The LORD of armies, He is the King of glory. Selah
5. Power and influence which belong to riches and wealth
John 10:10
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
Deuteronomy 8:18
“But you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that He may confirm His covenant…”
You can receive DUNAMIS and it will influence every area of your life and flow out to the world around you. The more DUNAMIS manifests in your life, the greater your witness of Christ will be. The following are some keys to help position you to receive greater portions of DUNAMIS:
1. Commit to Embracing the Fear of the Lord and Righteous Living
Proverbs 22:4 KJV
“By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honor, and life.”
Psalm 112:1-3 NASB
Praise the LORD! How blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who greatly delights in His commandments.
His descendants will be mighty on earth; The generation of the upright will be blessed.
Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.
2. Pursue Wisdom
Proverbs 8:17-18 KJV
“I (Wisdom) love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.
Riches and honor are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.”
James 1:5 NASB
“But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”
3. Worship God – The True Source of all Power, Riches, Wealth, and Honor
Revelation 5:12 KJV
“Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing.”
4. Sow Seed
(Seed can include your praise, prayer, decrees of God’s Word, finances, etc.)Gen 26:12-13 NASB
Now Isaac sowed in that land and reaped in the same year a hundredfold. And the LORD blessed him, and the man became rich, and continued to grow richer until he became very wealthy.
2 Corinthians 9:6 NASB
“Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.”
Mark 4:8
“Other seeds were sown into the good soil, and as they grew up and increased, they yielded a crop and produced thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold.”
2 Corinthians 9:8, 10-11 NASB
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed …
Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness;
you will be enriched in everything for all liberality, which through us is producing thanksgiving to God.
5. Believe and Receive
Mark 11:24 NASB
“Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.”
