I heard the Lord say that “It’s Genesis 26 for 2026.“
That simple phrase carries the heart of a huge opportunity the Lord is offering His people this year. I believe that 2026 will be a year when blocked generational wells of blessing are reopened. What was promised to your previous generations — what was interrupted, delayed, or contested — will be re-dug, reactivated, and restored for those who are willing to contend in faith.
Genesis 26 places Isaac in the land of promise during a time of famine. Though the covenant was secure, the circumstances were challenging. As Isaac remained faithful, he discovered that the wells his father Abraham had dug — sources of life, provision, and inheritance — had been filled in by the enemy. Instead of abandoning the land or striving to invent something new, Scripture tells us that Isaac returned to those places and re-dug the wells of his father. When he did, the water flowed again, and with it came provision, favor, and expansion.
This passage reveals something vital for us in this season: God is not always starting something new; often, He is restoring what was already authorized. But inheritance must first be recognized before it can be stewarded. Isaac did not deny the wells, nor did he attempt to replicate Abraham’s life exactly. He honored what had been entrusted to him and allowed the inheritance to express itself uniquely through his own obedience.
Genesis 26 also shows us why some wells remain closed. Scripture says Isaac’s enemies filled the wells with earth and stones. Prophetically, this points to how the enemy seeks to block generational blessing — not by removing the promise, but by hardening the heart. Over time, disappointment, deferred hope, frustration, or unfulfilled expectation (our carnal, fleshly, “earth-ly” reactions) can harden our hearts and cause “stones” to fill up our wells. Re-digging wells, then, is not only about persistence — it is about allowing Holy Spirit to search our hearts for any hardness, discouragement, bitterness or offense (with man or God). When the stones are removed, the waters will flow again.
As you move through 2026, ask the Lord to show you what has been entrusted to your bloodline. Ask Him how that inheritance is meant to flow through you. Realize that bloodline blessings do not always repeat themself in form, even when they remain the same in substance. What flowed one way through previous generations may be refined, redirected, or reimagined in your life. Do not miss (or discount) a blessing simply because it looks different than you expected. Often, the well is the same — but the way the water reaches the surface has changed.
