Are you unsure about what the Lord is doing in this season? What He is doing in your life? Then read on as Francisco shares an encouraging word and scriptures to embrace the Something New coming your way.
Behold, I am doing something new, Now it will spring up; Will you not be aware of it?
I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:19 (NASB)
As I read this verse and think about all that is going on right now, I must admit, “No Lord, I’m not sure of everything that You are doing in this season.” In fact, I feel I have more questions than answers right now. Why the political unrest? Why the violence? Why the fear, hurt, and pain? Why, why, why? No doubt we are in uncertain times in the church and in the world right now. It all looks and feels like a big mess.
However, it is in this place, when I find myself asking questions like these, that I choose to trust in the Lord and His word no matter what it looks like in the natural. I would love for everything to be going really well. In fact, better than just well, how about great? When I think of new things like it says in Isaiah 43, I get happy because something new brings good feelings. If you, too, find yourself in a moment where you can’t feel or see what God is doing, let me share this reminder: God is able! Right now, He is making a pathway in the spirit! As we grab hold of that promise in Isaiah, we can trust that the Holy Spirit will help us see the new things that God is doing.
As I went before the Lord, I remembered my old days in construction and a time not too long ago when I remodeled homes. When you first go into a home that is going to be remodeled, all you see is the old. It smells old, it feels old, and there are things that are broken that need to be replaced or restored. It’s all a big mess. But that’s really where the promise and the dream begin to take shape. In that moment, you can begin to see what that old house will become. All it takes is faith that it can happen and before I know it, you’re going through the demolition, clean-up, repairs, new walls are being built, new paint, new cabinets, tile, everything. Soon the old is gone and what is left is the new.
Our lives before the Lord are under construction. The church and the world are under construction. We may not have the full picture just yet but, again, in faith we can have it. God helps us and guides us; He has the plan and is in the remodel with us! Imagine the master carpenter Jesus at your side, showing you everything you need to know and do. I get excited just thinking about it! But instead of an actual house, it’s you that He wants to remodel and restore in this season.
What’s in your life that you can give to Him in this moment? What’s broken that needs to be repaired and restored? You see, before we can understand what God is doing in the world or even the church, we must be willing to let Him mold us as individuals.
And when He says, “Now it will spring up,” that means He is on the job. Israel couldn’t see the promise right away when Moses came to lead them out of Egypt, but they chose to have faith and became free from bondage. The disciples couldn’t see everything that Jesus was promising in the moment, but they were used of God in the hardest of times, and through them God showed up. Signs, wonders and miracles happened and it all led people to the Lord. When the old things go and the new thing happens, you know it was God. He loves you and is with you through it all.
Here are some bible verses to help stir up our faith in God during this season and to remember that He is doing something new in our lives.
Isaiah 43:19 (NASB) Behold, I am doing something new, Now it will spring up; Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.
Hebrews 13:5 (AMPC) Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]
Hebrews 11:1 (NASB) Now faith is the certainty of things hoped for, a proof of things not seen.
Joshua 1:8-9 (NSAB) This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will achieve success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified nor dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
