I feel we are in a critical time in the spirit right now. It is a time of great opportunity and potential, but also a time of great challenge. It is a time when God is allowing His people to see the things that we have allowed to limit us in the past, as well as ways we have fallen short (perhaps even regularly or habitually).
If during this time we listen to the familiar voice of the flesh, this will be a season of rationalization and justification unto self-defense that keeps us stuck in the things that have held us back in the past. If we listen to the accusing voice of the enemy, this will be a difficult time of condemnation unto disqualification. But if we are willing to listen to the revealing voice of Holy Spirit, this will be a glorious time of conviction unto new levels of consecration that launches us into greater manifestations of His promises.
This moment is rich with the potential of Joshua 3:5. Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves anew, for tomorrow the Lord will work wonders in your midst.”
God is calling each of us up higher, not in our own strength and abilities but in His, to leave behind those things that have held us back in the past so that we can step out into a powerful future exploding with miraculous signs, wonders, and breakthroughs!
Do not fear or avoid the pressure you are feeling in the spirit right now. Turn to God with it. Allow it to press you into Him like never before. What He has for you in the midst of all you are sensing, feeling, and going through is “glorious transformation.” Lean in to Him. Listen for His voice. Embrace His convictions. Follow His leading. Allow Him to do a deep transforming work within you; allow Him to work wonders in your midst! As you do, there will be ones around you – as in Song of Songs 8:5 – that marvel at His transforming power and declare with wonder, “Who is this coming up out of the wilderness leaning on her beloved?”
I am not making light of the challenges of this season (I myself have been deeply convicted on several fronts recently); I am simply declaring that I believe with all my heart that we will see the goodness of God in the midst of all this. The enemy is not winning. God is simply answering our prayers in a wonderful albeit unexpected way.
The apostle Paul put it this way when addressing the church at Corinth: “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” His desire was that believers see and know who they really are in Christ as new creations with the empowering grace of God to live as true reflections and representations of His love, light and life in all things. That is Holy Spirit’s desire for each of us in this hour. He wants us to behold – see so that we may be and lay hold of – who we truly are in Christ as His Body in the earth. That is why He is pointing out, through the gift of conviction, where we react or respond from our old dead nature. It is not unto condemnation, it is unto freedom.
Let’s not miss the glorious opportunity of this challenging season. Let’s invite Holy Spirit to go deeper than ever before, listen to His voice, do business with Him, and look forward to amazing transformation and empowerment as He brings us into greater manifestations of all we have been believing for!
Prayer Directives
So let’s pray this month that:
- We will lay hold of a great grace to set apart time to be with Him, listen for His voice, know His heart, and respond to His leading.
- Our eyes are opened so that we behold who we truly and fully are in Christ; we know the richness of the inheritance He has placed in us in the gift of Holy Spirit and our born-again nature.
- We will ignore the voice of the flesh and give no heed to the whispers, lies and accusations of the enemy.
- We invite the Lord to do wonders in our midst, gloriously transforming us into a full expression of the new creation we are in Him.
- We know the height, width, depth and breadth of His love for us and for all the people and places He blesses to encounter.
- We will not do any of this in our strength or power, but by His Holy Spirit.
- The Spirit of Truth will be made manifest, and every lie of the enemy will be shattered and destroyed in our bodies, souls and spirits so that we may go forth with His presence and power, doing good and healing all who are oppressed of the enemy.
