Dr. Michelle Burkett, PhD Christian Counseling/Psychology, has served as a seasoned ordained minister for over 25 years and has ministered to many in her private counseling practice for 20 years. Dr. Burkett has served faithfully with Patricia King for over ten years and is the Director of Patricia’s Women in Ministry Network (WIMN). She has the joy and privilege of serving women in all kinds of ministry, combining their strengths to form a global network of women on the frontlines, advancing God’s kingdom. Her passion is to breathe life into God’s people, seeing them fulfill their dreams, potential, and destiny. This month, Michelle shares a word that calls us into unity.
We are about to come into the kairos moment that we see a picture of in Luke 5:4-7 when the disciples had been fishing all night but had not caught any fish. Then … JESUS! Jesus asked them to lower their nets again, and this time the nets were so full they began to break as the disciples brought all the fish into the boat.
Time to Prepare
As we anticipate this eminent harvest and the millions who are about to come into the Kingdom, we must prepare ourselves for the increase! We are the net that is being lowered into the water to bring the lost from the realm of darkness into the light. Knotting many thin threads into ONE strong mesh makes fishing nets. It is love that ties us together into secure knots, forming the Church into an unbreakable net for harvest!
One Body
First Corinthians 12:12-27 speaks of this as being of one body with many parts. Weakness comes to our body when it is at war with itself! Medically, this would be an immunity disorder – the body is fighting itself and made so weak that it cannot withstand attacks from disease – the true enemy. We are to be one with our brothers and sisters in Christ, and we must live in a way that brings health to our Body. We are not islands unto ourselves. All that we say and do affects the rest of the Body. It’s time for our words and actions to intentionally build one another up. Let’s be a B12 shot! We must love every part of Christ’s Body – OUR Body!
The ties of the net – our ties – must be strong! We must work as one unit, one Body, united in love to bring in the “fish.” Accusation, criticism, judgment, offense – these things weaken our Body and erode our net to the point of breaking. Now is the time to repair these breaks in the net.
Mend the Tears
We must speak life over our brothers and sisters. As I speak strength, blessing, grace and love over you, I speak it over myself. Let us repent to one another, forgive, and forge fortified knots. Let us weave a net that cannot be broken but will be ready to bring in the great harvest of fish.
God’s glory will be revealed through surrendered lives – lives that are submitted to Love, not fearing or pointing fingers at what is different in each other, but delighting in and celebrating the Jesus in each other! In this way, the world will know us by Love and we will create a powerful net that will draw countless from the depths of darkness into the light of Jesus.

With this in mind, let’s pray for:
- Repentance for accusing or speaking against parts of the Body. (Acts 3:19; 2 Corinthians 7:1; Ephesians 4:31-32; Revelation 12:10-12)
- Great grace to forgive others. (Psalm 103:12; Micah 7:18; Matthew 6:14-15)
- Unity in the Body. That our “nets” will be repaired, our connections will be strong, and we will come together for the great harvest. (John 17; Psalm 133:1; 1 John 5:1; Malachi 2:10; Exodus 19:5-6)
- Release blessing! (Deuteronomy 28:1-13; Psalm 34:3-5; John 7:38; Ephesians 1:3)
