Andrea Aasen is the Executive Director and CEO of Extreme Love Ministries (formerly XP Missions). Andrea is an apostolic leader, mentored under Patricia King, who longs to see the nations restored. She and her team have worked in nations such as Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Iraq, developing community, business, and advocacy models to rehabilitate and protect victims of human trafficking and other forms of exploitation. Andrea believes in the power of love to overcome every injustice and is passionate to see women and children empowered and walking in their God created destinies.

This month, the Spirit is urging us to radically look to God as Father and seek Him for glorification in new and existing relationships. God is pouring out a renewed desire for family and with it will come richness in connections and a great restoration within natural and spiritual family units…

A new revelation of FAMILY is awakening the Body of Christ! This month, I saw the spirit and power of Elijah (Luke 1:17) cloaking us with weighty glory and turning hearts towards His.

“He will turn the hearts of the fathers back to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers . . . ” Malachi 4:6

As I saw the mantle fall, a fresh spirit of adoption (Romans 8:15) was released upon the earth to bring us back into right relationships, call the prodigals home, steady the hands of the righteous, and ignite and unify hearts for kingdom expansion and harvest.

This month, the Spirit is urging us to radically look to God as Father and seek Him for glorification in new and existing relationships. God is pouring out a renewed desire for family and with it will come richness in connections and a great restoration within natural and spiritual family units.

God’s plan for creating and redeeming man was always for and because He desired family. He made us a big family within the Body of Christ and also gave us natural family units to be prophetic examples of heaven, as well as a practical means for growth, maturity, discipline, support, and love. God loves the covenant seed and promise for family – even foreseeing and preparing the way through Abraham and all of His descendants.

So, as the nations continue to shake, it is imperative that we are rooted and steadfast in our love, both to and from God and with each other. You have been adopted into a royal family (1 Peter 2:9; Eph. 2:19; Matt. 12:46-50), and there is no safer place to be. It is all for and about God’s family! God called you because He desired you to be a part of Him and His Kingdom. And as we receive this gift, we get to give it away, calling our brothers and sisters “home” and making known to them this same gospel of love.

Someone recently told me the story of a man who came to church and was rejected because of his outward sin. Feeling discouraged he went to the bar, where he slid deeper into alcoholism. However, it was there where he was welcomed by young and old alike. He never returned to the church but now frequents the bars often. My heart wept as I heard of his inner struggle to find love and acceptance. So many are seeking the same, but simply desire the love of a family. Having been made in the image of God, family was put in our hearts from before the foundations of the world. We desire love and acceptance and a place we can grow and be supported – we all desire family. So, while we certainly need to call each other higher and move away from sin, loving someone in the midst of their hardship (and even in their sin) may be just what they need to see and experience Jesus. This month, let’s be bold to share love and invite people into our family – even the seemingly unlovable (Luke 6:32-36; 1 Cor. 13; John 15:13; John 13:34; Mark 12:31).

Let’s press in together to carry and release another wave of the spirit and power of Elijah.
Here are five areas of self-reflection, prayer, and focus for the month.

Walk in Righteousness. As the Spirit of Elijah floods the earth, there will be a great outpouring through righteous sons. Elijah called down fire, resurrected the dead, and worked incredible miracles, signs, and wonders in the earth, but it was all unto calling the righteous home. Likewise, John the Baptist ministered in the same spirit and power, and he, too, gathered those hungry and thirsty for righteousness to repent and turn from their ways (Matt. 11:14; Mark 1:3). However, both prophets made sacrifices to not only call others to righteousness but also to walk in that place of holiness themselves. If we want to move in the same power to call the lost, we must walk righteously. We must remain an uncompromised people who are steadfast to remain in the holiness Jesus purchased (1 Peter 1:15-16: Lev. 20:26). It is in this likeness that we can reflect Jesus and call others to His example (2 Cor. 3:18). This month, challenge yourself to look inwardly. Are there places in your actions, heart, or mind that you still have in common with the enemy? Also, are there specific people or places that He is calling you to be a refined example of His love and family? Let’s actively pray into and make goals to reach those purified places.

Pray and Reach Out to the Lost and Broken. Get ready for God to grow you in love and expand your heart for the lost and broken (Psalm 34:18). Pray into ways you can be family to others. What are specific things God would have you do to be an encouragement or support to people you are already in relationship with or to those who you might not yet know but encounter in your daily activities. The harvest is ripe (Matt. 9:36-38)! Be led by compassion and love to share, mentor, or discipline those needing family in deeper ways.

Root Yourself in Love. The branches on the vines can only receive nourishment from the vine (John 15). Are you rooted and attached daily to this place of His love? Let His love nourish and perfect you. Perfect love does not fear (1 John 4:18). Pray into areas of your life where fear might be guiding your decisions instead of God. Are you being directed by fear or love? Are there people or situations in your life in which you can do better to be love and family to?

Know Who You Are. If we are to call others into God’s family, we, too, must be solidified in our identity as sons (Gal. 4:6; Romans 8:14; John 1:12). It’s time for the mature to take their position to father/mother the next generation and for the children to submit to the guidance and discipline of those God has asked to father/mother them. Where are you not ordered in submission or in leading those God has placed in your life? Decree and reflect on areas of identity or authority that might need to be reordered and pray into making those changes reality.

Embrace the Wilderness. Those who walked in the spirit and power of Elijah (including John the Baptist and Elijah) were sent into the wilderness (1 Kings 19). God often uses the wilderness to prepare us. The Israelites and Jesus were also tested, as they traversed through difficult times in the wilderness (Matt. 4:1-11; Deut. 8:2; Ezekiel 20:10; Psalm 136:16). Your desert seasons are preparing you for deeper communion, trust, and intimacy with God. But He who leads you through the challenges will have the glory! Pray into and reflect on current or previous wilderness seasons. How did/is God using those times and situations to prepare you for calling and purpose?

We will not be shaken! Stand in your authority as a son and receive a fresh anointing for family. Get ready to see restoration in and for families at whole new levels!
