This month, Heather shares that Jesus is there for you when you need help forgiving others.
Right now, we are living in one of the most challenging times of our generation. A war is raging before our eyes—good versus evil, light versus darkness, heaven versus hell. And in the midst of this spiritual battle, the sudden death of Charlie Kirk has struck like a shockwave felt around the world. It has forced all of us to confront the reality of life, death, and eternity in a way that feels deeply personal, even for those of us who never knew him face-to-face.
As a pastor, I’ve spoken with many who have asked, “I didn’t even know him personally, so why does this loss feel so heavy?” That question has echoed in countless hearts, including my own. I believe Scripture gives us the answer. Ecclesiastes 3:11 tells us that God has “set eternity in the human heart.” We were created with an awareness of eternity woven into our very being. That’s why moments like these stir something deep inside—not only among Christians, but even among those who don’t share our faith. Death pulls back the curtain and reminds us of something we often try to forget: we are eternal beings, and life on this earth is temporary and only part of the story our lives will write.
The Bible directs us to live with eternity in focus. Our time on this earth is precious, but it is not all there is. Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 4:18, “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” In other words, the things we cling to in this world—our possessions, our achievements, our status, our titles—they will one day fade away. But what we do for Christ, what we sow into eternity, is what will last.
Jesus emphasized this even further when He asked us in Luke 9:25, “And what good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet lose or forfeit their very self?” The question is not whether we will live forever—the question is how we will live, and what kind of eternal mark will our everyday choices leave? Will our lives point people toward Christ? Will our words and actions carry eternal weight? Moments like these force us to confront the reality that none of us are promised tomorrow. The real questions we can all ask ourselves are these: How will we live for eternity TODAY? How will our daily lives make an eternal difference in the world around us?
Charlie’s passing is one reminder of eternity, but it’s not the only reminder. Around the world, believers face this reality daily. In Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, men, women, and children are laying down their lives for the sake of the Gospel. Their stories may never make the headlines, but heaven knows their names. Each one testifies to the same truth: life on earth is temporary, but eternity is forever. And Jesus is worthy of everything we stand to lose, including our lives.
Courage for our faith should mark our lives as believers. We should speak truth in places where few dare to go, and do so unashamedly because the command of the Great Commission compels us. Charlie’s voice carried weight not because he sought fame, but because he carried conviction. That kind of boldness doesn’t die with a man; it becomes a call to the living. It’s a call to all of us, right now, in this hour. The same is true of our brothers and sisters across the globe who suffer for their faith. Their witness challenges us. If they can stand firm in the face of persecution, and if Charlie could stand boldly for truth in the face of opposition, then surely we, too, can rise with the same courage. Their examples invite us to live our faith out loud, to walk in our God-given callings, and to leave behind something that echoes in eternity. The world is watching.
In this hour, we have been reminded that life is fragile, but eternity is certain. This is not a moment for the Church to shrink back—it is a moment to rise up. God has placed eternity in our hearts, and He has entrusted us with the opportunity to live boldly for His kingdom. Eternity is not something distant or abstract; it is shaped in the choices we make today. Another question we must ask ourselves is simple yet profound: How will my life count for eternity? May we fix our eyes not on what is temporary, but on what is eternal. May we step into our God-given destiny with courage, conviction, and faith that leaves a mark long after we are gone.
Take a moment today to pause and ask yourself: Am I living for what is temporary, or for what is eternal? Let God search your heart. Now is the time to rise up. Don’t waste the days you’ve been given. Share the gospel, encourage someone in their faith. Stop for the one even when it’s inconvenient, and live your life out loud and with conviction. Live in such a way that your life points people to Jesus. Live in such a way, TODAY, that we de-populate hell and we make heaven crowded. Steps of faith, whether big or small, leave an eternal impact when they are done for Christ.
Church, this is our hour. Let’s rise with courage for our faith. Let’s live with eternity in focus, and let’s press on to leave behind a legacy that points generations to Jesus.
